Kathrin is an award-winning photographer and visual storyteller. She has a passion and eye for unique stories and presents them in a way that intrigues and inspires the audience. She works on self-initiated projects energized by what inspires herself in the world that surrounds her – the topics are divers. Kathrin has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions in New Zealand and abroad. She enjoys collaborating with artist of other disciplines to intensify the story she is telling.
Her show ‘Full Moon Kingdom’ was one of the leading visual arts events of the Auckland Arts Festival 2016 and Kathrin’s exhibition FADE was showcased in four renowned galleries in 2016 / 2017.
‘I take photographs of moments and stories that captivate and have meaning to me. I am not tied to a singular genre or style. Exploring genres and styles reflects my curiosity, love for change and all 'new'. Most of my photographs are grounded in people and moods. By being present in the moment and responding to what unfolds around me without preconception I try to capture images that are honest, empathic and real. That’s what I want to catch – reality in all its facets. Instead of setting up poses, I wait for actuality by fading in the background. That’s when I feel I become one with my subject and am able to catch emotions and sentiments. That’s when I feel really excited.’
