Kathrin Simon’s participation in the MOPLA exhibition – One Shot: Spaces – Inside, Outside, The Space Between in L.A.

I received great news last week – one of my works will be exhibited in Los Angeles in April 13 as part of the 5th year anniversary celebration of MOPLA (Month of Photography Los Angeles). I recently entered the 2013 International Photography Awards single-image competition. This year’s theme asked photographers to submit work that conveys a sense of ‘Inside’, ‘Outside’, or ‘The Spaces Between’. I am excited that my entry was named a winning photograph from approx 800 submissions.

The image, called ‘Float in Motion’, features Royal New Zealand Ballet dancers Medhi Angot and Qi Huan during a live performance in 2010. The choreography by Brendan Bradshaw was fast and vibrant. However, this photograph conveys absolute stillness to me. It captures a split second in between time and space where muscles and music draw breath. Check it out – it is the first image in the dance category on my website.

I got the print organized last week and am so happy with it….it is now on its way to L.A. Beautiful!
